The German Association of Postgraduate Programmes with special Relevance to Developing Countries

The Association of Postgraduate Programs with Special Relevance for Developing Countries (AGEP) brings together various universities with international postgraduate programs aimed at developing and emerging countries as well as countries with economies in transition. The AGEP network is a consortium of over 50 German postgraduate programs spanning fields. These programs are offered by AGEP members at German universities in a wide range of natural and engineering sciences, technology, social sciences, economics, medicine and other relevant disciplines.

Participants from more than 70 countries vouch for the quality of these study programs. The excellent international reputation leads to extensive support from international and national institutions. Hundreds of participants are scholarship holders from their home countries or from German and international sponsors.

More information

Compared to universities in other countries, AGEP programs charge no or very low fees. This makes studying in Germany an attractive option. TU Darmstadt, and in particular our TropHEE Master's program, is a member of the AGEP network. This enables us to regularly offer special courses (online and/or face-to-face) to all TropHEE students from all participating AGEP partner universities and to send invitations by e-mail. The programs offered by the Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems / Institute for Technology and Resource Management (NRM, REM, IWRM) at TH Köln are an integral part of the AGEP network.

These programs have decided to cooperate with each other to offer students from all over the world a wider range of courses and additional qualifications to enhance their study experience in Germany.

Through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), selected participants from developing countries are offered scholarships to study in these programs, the so-called EPOS Scholarship. This enables them to participate in high-quality research projects, use the research infrastructure, expertise and resources of German universities and research institutions, and promote intercultural exchange and collaboration between researchers from different countries. This can lead to a deeper understanding of global research issues.

DAAD Scholarship

TU Darmstadt also offers the opportunity to apply for the DAAD scholarship. Are you interested in the DAAD scholarship? Find out more here!

More information

After graduation, former program participants often work in international networks to tackle country- or region-specific challenges. The aim of the EPOS program and the AGEP network programs is to improve graduates' career prospects and enable them to more effectively initiate and support development processes in their home countries.
