Electron Microscopy Center Darmstadt

EMC-DA

The Electron Microscopy Center Darmstadt (EMC-DA) is a joint platform of the TU Darmstadt (with the departments of Materials and Geosciences, Physics, Chemistry and Biology), the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability (LBF) and the State Materials Testing Institute Darmstadt (MPA-IfW).

The EMC-DA is the central contact for materials science investigations based on electron microscopy, both for members of the participating institutions and for external partners from academia and industry.

It provides structural and chemical characterization with a focus on inorganic solids using scanning and transmission electron microscopy, ranging from conventional imaging to chemical analysis using energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS) and electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS), to in situ studies and the highest resolution characterization on the atomic level.
