Ing. José Chapa, M.Sc., is a civil engineer specialized in Water Resources Engineering and Management. As a research associate, his work in the group focuses on the implementation of adapted prototypes at an urban neighborhood scale in Costa Rica. During the last two years, he has been working on the identification of potential study areas including interviews and workshops, monitoring urban water systems, and assisted in teaching at the university. Moreover, he co-supervises academically students in the field of hydrological models, land use classification, and conceptualization of ecological infrastructure approaches. Simultaneously, he has begun a project in Ecuador at the building-scale, focusing on adapted urban water systems for climate change resilience, sustainable urban tourism, and food production. His main research interests are related to urban resilience, transdisciplinarity, retrofitting, ecological infrastructure, multifunctionality, sustainable urban water management, co-design, and community building.
