RMU Geoscience Meeting 2025

TU Darmstadt’s Institute of Applied Geosciences welcomed the participants for the meeting

2025/04/10

On April 3, 2025, the three geoscience institutes of the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU) – TU Darmstadt, Goethe University Frankfurt, and JGU Mainz – came together for their first joint meeting.

After the obligatory first coffee and some cookies, the meeting kicked off with an introduction round of the participating institutes, moderated by Prof. Dr. Moritz Bigalke. The institutes were presented by their executive directors: Prof. Dr. Andreas Henk (Darmstadt), Prof. Dr. Alan Woodland (Frankfurt), and Prof. Dr. Roman Botcharnikov (Mainz). The approximately 110 participating researchers were given an overview not only of the fields of expertise and research topics, but also of student numbers and research funding.

Following a joint lunch at the Lichtwiese cafeteria, the group moved on—refreshed—to the poster session, which featured 85 posters from a wide range of geoscience and natural science disciplines. The engaging topics sparked lively discussions among participants and certainly inspired some ideas for future collaborations.

The day concluded with dedicated discussion rounds, offering further space to deepen the exchange between the institutes and explore possibilities for future joint projects.

We thank everyone for their enthusiastic participation in the first RMU Geoscience Meeting 2025, express our gratitude to all helping hands, and are already looking forward to the next edition.
