Development and application of a method to determine benzothiazole leached from tire wear particles (TWPs) in soil

The research focuses on developing a method to enrich the trace amount of benzothiazole (BT) in aqueous environmental sinks. Solid phase extraction (SPE) method will be used for the enrichment of BT in various stock solutions of different concentrations. The methodology involves conducting a series of enrichment tests using stock solution with concentrations ranging from 0.05 to 100 μg/L-aq. with sample volumes of 5, 50 and 100 mL.

The optimized enrichment method will be applied to soil samples containing different amounts of artificial tire particles added to water. Furthermore, environmental samples with tire wear particles (TWPs) will be enriched and the BT concentration levels are measured using GC/MS.
