In my PhD project I work on large-scale tank experiments simulating soil aquifer treatment. The focus of the work is on the influence of different reactive barriers in the unsaturated zone on water quality changes, the attenuation of trace organic compounds and nutrients, originating from treated wastewater effluent, and the hydrogeochemical processes in both the unsaturated and saturated zone.
My PhD position is part of the MARSoluT (Managed Aquifer Recharge Solutions Training Network) project, a H2020 - Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Innovative Training Networks (ITN) project.
I hold a Diploma in Geology from Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Germany) and worked on the environmental fate of pesticides in a consulting company prior to joining the MARSoluT project as an Early Stage Researcher.
I am based at Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC) in Lisbon, Portugal, and conduct my research in close collaboration with the Hydrogeology working group at the Institute of Applied Geosciences, TU Darmstadt.
