The Institute mourns the loss of Professor Dr. Hans-Joachim Kleebe

Professor Dr. Hans-Joachim Kleebe headed the Geomaterial Science group at the Institute of Applied Geosciences from 2006 to 2022, with a focus on transmission electron microscopy for the characterization of natural and synthetic materials. With his expertise, he made a particular contribution to the development of high-tech materials. From 2007 to 2021, he was also the Managing Director of the institute, and in this role he was always receptive to the concerns of students and employees. With Hans-Joachim Kleebe, we are losing a committed university lecturer and scientist as well as an enthusiastic mineral collector. We will always remember him with honour. Our special condolences go out to his family.
