The Horizon 2020-funded MINAGRIS project aims to assess the impact of (micro- and nano-) plastic contamination of agricultural soils on the ecosystem services, biodiversity, and plant productivity, as well as the plastic concentrations, degradation, and transport in the agricultural soil environment.
My contribution to the project involves the development of an extraction method for nanoplastics in soil, in order to analyse the concentrations of nanoplastics in agricultural soils using Py-GC-MS. Besides this, my project will investigate the uptake of nanoplastics into plants, and the ageing of microplastics and release of nanoplastics from microplastics in soil.
