  • Soils as reservoirs for microplastics and nanoplastics (MNPs): Analytics, occurrence, spatial distribution and mobility of MNPs in soils
  • Plastics as a marker of the Anthropocene and the fluvial anthroposphere: application of plastics as stratigraphic markers in soils and fluvial sediments to reconstruct recent sedimentary dynamics
  • Conceptual and applied soil geography: soil geography as an interdisciplinary interface to study spatial dynamics of diverse matter fluxes (e.g., pollutants) in the environment. Development and application of spatial investigation approaches (e.g., plastic cycles)
  • Field soil science and soil protection
  • Analytical methods: Microplastic separation and identification via FTIR-spectroscopy and chemical imaging; ICP-MS; radionuclide analysis (HPGe)

Current courses:

  • MA Seminar Soil Pollution (WiSe)
  • BA Seminar Soil Protection (SoSe)
  • Field course in soil science
  • Soil mapping and landscape analysis course (SoSe)

Since 2018, I have lectured various courses on soil science and hydrogeography, as well as field and laboratory practicals at the Department of Geography, Philipps University.

At the IAG, my current focus includes courses on soil protection and pollutants in soils, as well as applied field soil science and support for laboratory practicals.
