The seminar addresses important aspects of academic writing and intends to support you in writing reports and your master thesis according to scientific standards. The following workshops are offered:
- Types and outline of scientific work
- Standards in scientific writing and grammar
- Literature research
- Reference management
- Scientific quotations and plagiarism
Moreover, students can participate in facultative workshops on scientific typesetting with LaTeX and Word. All TropHEE students of the 1st semester will automatically be registered in the respective moodle course.

At the end of the first semester, our Recap day for TropHEE students allows you to repeat and deepen your knowledge on important lecture contents. Exercises with calculation examples are provided. You can work in small learning groups for improved preparation of the exam period in February. Frequent open questions remaining after lectures are addressed and further assistance is given by student tutors. Registration is not required.
