About the programme
The six-semester bachelor's programme “Applied Geosciences” initially teaches basic scientific knowledge in physics, mathematics and chemistry. This is the basis for the geoscientific courses, which provide sound theoretical and methodological knowledge, especially – in accordance with the institute's profile – in Applied Geosciences. During exercises and practical courses, field and laboratory methods are specifically taught in order to gain skills in the application and evaluation of methods. They provide access to a wide range of geoscientific professions.
Your Study Plan
The study programme is based on a fundamental education in the subjects mathematics, physics and chemistry. In parallel, the specific geoscientific training already starts in the first semester. Students learn scientific and methodological basics of geology, mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry. For this purpose, several exercises and practical courses (including field work!) are carried out in the subject areas. In higher semesters, additional applied geological subjects are taught. In addition, further modules from the overall offer of the TU can be taken in an interdisciplinary compulsory elective area (e.g. computer science, ecology, economics, geotechnics…). The programme concludes with the bachelor's thesis. For details, specifically the study plan and the module handbook, please check under “B.Sc. Downloads”.
