Field Trip and Scientific Training

The field trip to Greece is an essential part of the TropHEE programme in order to study geosciences and water management issues in regions with scarce water resources. During the self-organized internship (scientific training), TropHEE students will gain practical experience by means of laboratory or field work as a step towards disciplinary specialisation in the forerun of the master's thesis.

Field trip to a semiarid region

A once in a lifetime experience!

Greece Field trip 2019

The excursion to Greece is an essential part of the TropHEE programme and allows students to develop an understanding of hydrogeological topics.

Scientific Training

Students can put into practice special geoscientific methods such as terrain analysis and mapping, chemical analyses and the collection and interpretation of external data to investigate a specific topic and take part in an independent form of study, specially conceived for the TropHEE programme.

The training takes at least 8 weeks. It can be splitted or extended, but has to be finished before registration of the master thesis. The scientific training can take place at our institute or at other scientific institutions, or in the industry. It is also possible to work in a semiarid or tropical region, e.g. in the home country. Before start of the scientific training, students have to submit a registration form signed by a supervisor of our institute, this also applies to external trainings.

Registration forms can be submitted by email or uploaded in the Moodle course “TropHEE study office”.
